The Nieto family built an adobe on a hilltop near the location of Povuu'nga sometime between 1800-1834. The adobe was probably used to house the rancho vaqueros and horses since the family never lived here. The hilltop location had a good view and rain drained off the adobe, but the most valuable resource of all was the fresh-water spring right below the hill.
