Photography Policy

Help us protect this fragile and valuable historic resource by respectfully honoring our photography policies.


  • During public hours, guests are welcome to take photographs around the grounds as mementos of their visit as long as they use a hand-held camera and do not disrupt the flow of tours, interfere with other visitors’ enjoyment of the site, or block pathways.
  • Share your photos with us! #RanchoLosAlamitos or @rancho_los_alamitos on Instagram.
  • No photography or videography is allowed inside the Ranch House.
  • Please do not move artifacts, trample plants, stand on furniture, equipment or corrals, or impede other visitors in order to get a shot.
  • Lighting, bounces and/or light reflectors, tripods, cases, large camera equipment/gear, clothing or costume changes, balloons, etc. are not permitted during public hours.
  • Guest not following our photography guidelines may be asked to leave the premises. You are welcome to make a reservation (see above) and return during non-public hours.

Special & Commercial Photography are currently suspended at Rancho Los Alamitos

All drones (Unmanned Aerial Systems) are prohibited at Rancho Los Alamitos and any unauthorized drone(s) observed over the Rancho will be reported to the FAA and local law enforcement, regardless of its point of origin or operation. Drones may pose a potential safety risk and may violate Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
